Description:

The Engineering Department is at the heart of designing, maintaining, and enhancing the district’s infrastructure and essential services. Within Public Works, the Waterworks Section is responsible for delivering clean, safe drinking water to the community and maintaining critical water infrastructure. We are currently seeking an Assistant Utility Operator to join our team.

The Waterworks Section is seeking an Assistant Utility Operator for hands-on physical work assisting the Utility Operators with the installation and repair of the Water system. The Assistant Utility Operators will further assist with live tapping of watermains as well as work on the potable water system. The successful applicant will understand and follow best management practices to maintain water quality.

Requirements include:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent
  • EOCP O.I.T. (Operator in Training) Certification for Water Distribution is an asset
  • Six months of pipefitting experience in water and wastewater systems
  • Traffic Control Certificate
  • Occupational First Aid Level I Certification
  • Annual renewal for Driver’s Abstract
  • May work in close proximity or in actual contact with raw sewage and have sufficient physical strength, stamina and coordination to permit performance of heavy manual work in all types of weather
  • Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

 

The successful candidates will work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (40 hours per week). As a component of the selection process, testing will be conducted. Although we thank all applicants for applying, only those under consideration will be contacted.
