The District’s Economic Development Strategy establishes a vision for local business and a path forward to sustain and grow a diverse and prosperous economy. It strives to leverage Saanich’s strategic location and physical assets, vibrant business community, existing economic base, strong institutional capacity and talented workforce to achieve sustainable prosperity. The strategy was adopted by Council in January 2024.
Target Sectors
The Economic Development Strategy defines target sectors for which Saanich has competitive advantages or exhibits cluster potential. Established sectors—education, healthcare, and tourism—offer room for value-added growth. Emerging fields such as life sciences, cleantech, and the creative economy show strong potential. Together, these sectors reflect Saanich’s focus on innovation and sustainability.
