Saanich Archives celebrates BC Heritage Week with a Community Cookbook and new exhibit
February 17, 2026
Saanich, BC – The Saanich Archives invites residents to observe BC Heritage Week (February 16 to 22, 2026).
This year’s theme, “Stir the Pot,” highlights food as an important form of heritage—connecting us to land, culture, ancestors, memories and community. The recipes we cook and share help tell the story of who we are and where we come from, and we want to hear from you!
Residents can visit the Municipal Hall (second floor) to view a new, long-term Saanich Archives exhibit focused on agriculture’s role in Saanich history and participate by contributing to a community project.
Submit a recipe to the Community Cookbook
We are creating a Community Cookbook—a collection of recipes submitted by residents and recipes from the Archives. The finished cookbook will be published digitally on the Saanich Archives website for the public to access and enjoy at no cost.
We welcome recipes of all kinds, including:
- Family recipes passed down through generations
- Original recipes
- Recipes fit for group gatherings
The recipe submission deadline is February 22, 2026.
