Saanich, BC – A few more changes are coming to the Proposed Quadra McKenzie Plan (QMP) before it is put to a public hearing on June 16, 2026.

This week, Council directed staff to re-designate certain parcels of land in the Quadra South area to reduce building heights near parks and create more opportunities for townhomes. They also adjusted future land use designations in Quadra North area so that four storey apartments would only be possible directly adjacent to Quadra Street, with the remainder of the area designated as 3 storey Urban Townhouse.

The current draft will now be revised and brought back for Council’s consideration on May 25, 2026, before the public hearing is held in June where the community will have an additional opportunity to provide their feedback.

The QMP presents a vision for the next 20-30 years that helps prepare Saanich for future growth and lays the foundation for creating healthy communities that feature a diversity of housing options, active transportation infrastructure, vibrant public spaces, and services and amenities within walking distance for residents.
