Saanich, BC – The District of Saanich and CUPE 2011, which represents the District’s unionized workers have successfully reached a new collective agreement.
It comes after months of constructive meetings, as well as mediation – with a goal of achieving a deal that meets the needs of employees while aligning with current economic conditions.
A ratification vote held last week saw CUPE workers voting in favour of the 3-year deal.
“The District of Saanich is pleased to have reached a new collective agreement that reflects the value we place on our employees and the important services they provide to our community every day,” says Chief Administrative Officer Brent Reems. “This agreement helps ensure our staff feel supported and that their needs are recognized, while also reflecting current economic realities and the need to make balanced, sustainable decisions. I want to thank the bargaining teams for their hard work and for the collaborative spirit they brought to the table – helping to achieve an agreement that is fair, responsible and in the best interests of our organization, employees and the community we serve.”
“This agreement supports the continued delivery of reliable, high-quality public services in Saanich,” said Ryan Graham, President of CUPE Local 2011. “Our members take pride in the work they do every day, and this agreement helps ensure those services remain strong and sustainable for the community.”
