Closure of PKOLS/Mt Douglas Churchill Drive and lower parking lot – June 8-12

Saanich, BC – The District of Saanich’s contractor will be undertaking monopole transportation and installation for the cell tower from June 8, 2026 to and including June 12, 2026 at PKOLS (Mount Douglas Park). To ensure public safety, the parking lot at the base of Churchill Drive will be closed from June 8-12, 2026. 

The public will not be given access to Churchill Drive and must use caution around the park areas due to large equipment being transported from the base to the summit. There may also be trail closures at the summit. The parking lot may reopen sooner if work is complete earlier than anticipated. The parking lot gate is anticipated to remain closed until the end of June as this stage of work is finalized.

The area will be monitored to ensure a safe work space can be maintained and to ensure the public’s safety while the work is in progress.

The closures are necessary so that the District’s contractor can continue installation operations for the telecommunications tower replacement project.
