Saanich, BC – The District of Saanich is proud to announce the launch of BusinessCare, a proactive business retention and engagement initiative designed to support local business growth and economic resiliency. Through one-on-one engagement and relationship-building, the program will collect and track valuable business insights, ensuring the District can provide the right support to help businesses thrive.

“As our economy changes, helping businesses remain competitive and resilient is more important than ever,” says Mayor Dean Murdock. “Engaging directly with local businesses will enable the District to create a stronger, more supportive and connected business environment.”

Through a program of enhanced engagement, Saanich staff will gather important insights into the challenges, opportunities, and trends faced by local businesses. This information will then help shape municipal policies, programs, and strategic planning, ensuring that the District remains responsive to the evolving local economic landscape.

“The Saanich BusinessCare program will help address the dynamic needs of businesses within our community,” says Economic Development Manager Mitchell Edgar. “Over the coming months, our team will be meeting with Saanich business owners and management to better understand the unique challenges and opportunities each organization is dealing with.” 

Background

BusinessCare aligns with the District’s Economic Development Strategy, particularly its emphasis on business services, collaboration and data-driven decision-making. By operationalizing these priorities, the goal is to enhance the overall business climate in Saanich while in turn promoting resiliency and inclusiveness. The introduction of Saanich BusinessCare is a first step in a longer term and comprehensive local business support strategy.
