Join Saanich Fire and Police Departments for family fun at upcoming open house

Saanich, BC – This Saturday, you and your family are invited to join the Saanich Fire and Police Departments for games, live demonstrations, and giveaways.
“Connecting with the community at public events allows us to impart fire safety tips in a fun and engaging environment,” says Saanich Fire Chief Michael Kaye. “We look forward to welcoming everyone for a day of learning and safety education”.
“The Saanich Police Department is thrilled to join forces with our partners at Saanich Fire as part of this upcoming open house event,” says Chief Constable Dean Duthie. “Public awareness and trust is a cornerstone of effective policing, and events like this allow us to build that through transparency and engagement with residents of all ages.”
Community members are invited to visit the open house event at Saanich Fire Station No. 1, 760 Vernon Avenue, this Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Join the fun on Saturday and take part in the many activities and learning opportunities the departments have planned, including:
- Meet our fire fighters and police officers
- Ride in the Saanich Emergency Program’s Quake Cottage
- Grease fire demos and Fire Dispatch communications demo
- Auto extrication and high angle rescue demonstrations
- Meet Sparky and Ace, our emergency service mascots
- Tour Fire and Police vehicles
- Take part in the fire hose spray station
- Learn more about the day-to-day work of Saanich Police Officers who are part of the Bike Squad, Canine Unit, Dive Unit, and Forensics Team
- Goof around in the bouncy castle and at the face painting stations
- Last, but certainly not least, enjoy some delicious food!
