Free organics cart upsize promotion ends on June 30

Saanich, BC – Saanich residents have until June 30, 2025, to take advantage of the free cart exchange program. This program allows residents to upsize their organics cart size at no cost – a $30 savings!

This initiative, designed to offer greater flexibility and promote environmentally friendly practices, provides an excellent opportunity for residents to optimize their organics cart size to a 360L cart to better suit their household needs and environmental objectives.

All requests submitted by June 30 will have the fee waived, even if your cart is not delivered by that date.

Background

Launched last July, this promotion has enabled residents to switch to a cart size that aligns better with their organics waste and recycling efforts, supporting a greener future for Saanich. By eliminating the financial barrier, residents are encouraged to transition to a new 360L cart size, making it easier to reduce waste and enhance recycling efforts within the community.

Reminder to sign up for notifications

Residents are encouraged to check their updated collection calendar, download the Greener Garbage mobile phone application or visit saanich.ca/greenergarbageday to stay informed about when their next collection day is.

It is important that residents have their garbage and organics cart out by 7:00 a.m. on collection day. This will prevent missed collections and help Saanich crews work more efficiently.
