Saanich, BC – The District of Saanich invites residents to join in celebrating National Public Works Week from May 18 to 24. This year’s theme People, Purpose, Presence serves as a reminder of the dedicated efforts of the staff who steward and enhance the District’s infrastructure and natural beauty.

"In Saanich, we are tremendously proud of our Public Works and Parks teams; their commitment and hard work contribute to building a strong community for us all. This week, we celebrate not just their skills, but their unwavering dedication to serving residents,” said Mayor Dean Murdock. “We hope to see many of you at the Parks and Public Works Yard Tour on May 22 where you can learn more about their invaluable contributions."

Saanich crews will host engaging activity stations where visitors of all ages can explore the fascinating world of public works and parks services, meet staff and discover how their work keeps Saanich thriving.

"Our Public Works staff work to meet our community’s needs every day. This event is a great opportunity for residents to see firsthand the expertise and hard work of our dedicated teams – from solid waste services to fleet operations to waterworks, street operations to storm and wastewater systems and more,” said Director of Engineering Harley Machielse.

  • No reservations are required for this drop-in event. Please arrive early to enjoy all the stations.
