Calling all creatives! Help design Mayor and Council’s 2025 Holiday Card

Saanich, BC – Yule never believe it – it’s that time of year already! Grab your markers and sharpen those pencil crayons, it’s time for Mayor and Council’s 2025 Holiday Card contest.

Young artists in Saanich are once again invited to share their creative designs, showing what they love most about the holidays. One winner will be chosen to have their artwork featured in Mayor and Council’s annual holiday card – and win a special grand prize to serve as Mayor for the Morning.

“From beautiful winter scenes to the holly-day activities and memories they share with family and friends, I can’t wait to see what our young artists share with us this year,” says Saanich Mayor Dean Murdock. “So kids, let those ideas snowball! Bring your sleigh-game and send us your creative entries today!”

Contest details

  • The contest is open to Saanich students in grades K-5.
  • The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, November 26, 2025, and they can be sent to media@saanich.ca.
  • Parents and educators are encouraged to help children scan their design in the largest size possible, at a resolution of 300 ppi or higher.
  • Don’t forget to include the artist’s name and grade in your email!

Prize details

  • Mayor and Council’s 2025 holiday card will feature the winner’s design, as well as their name and grade. The winning design will also be featured in holiday social media posts for the District.
  • As Mayor for the Morning, the winner will be welcomed at Municipal Hall to learn the ropes of the job with Mayor Murdock and meet firefighters, police officers, staff and more through a variety of fun experiences. Please note that a parent or caregiver is required to attend with the child as well.
  • The winner will also receive some drop-in passes to our Saanich recreation centres, a signed holiday card from the Mayor and keepsake holiday cards to share with loved ones.

The lucky winner will be notified by email and announced on the District and the Mayor’s social media channels in December. Good luck!
