Information bulletin
For immediate release
Saanich, BC – The District of Saanich is pleased to inform the public that the aquatic areas at Saanich Commonwealth Place (SCP) have resumed normal operations.
All of the pools at SCP were closed on August 25, 2025 for extended maintenance and capital projects, including the installation of a new water slide. While the competition pool, teach pool and dive tank had reopened over the last few weeks, this week marks the opening of the remaining aquatic areas including the wave pool, tots pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna.
Swimming lessons and other aquatic programs are resuming, and registered program participants have been informed that they will receive credits for any classes that had been cancelled due to the delayed reopening.
Meanwhile, the final inspection and commissioning of the new water slide was completed on Wednesday, November 12. Staff training on the operation and supervision of the new slide will take place over the coming days, and it is anticipated to open to the public on Wednesday, November 19.
A grand opening celebration for the water slide is planned for Saturday, November 29 from 1:00pm-4:00pm, and everyone is invited to join in the fun! Join Mayor Dean Murdock, members of Saanich Council and staff for the official opening of this exciting new amenity.
The District would like to thank patrons for their patience during the extended closure while these important improvements were made. We’re excited to welcome you back!
