Saanich, BC – This Family Day, join the District of Saanich at the Family Arts Festival, held at the Cedar Hill Recreation and Arts Centre.

This fun-filled, free family event is a celebration of imagination, creativity and discovery. Kids of all ages will explore a wide variety of activities led by Arts Centre staff and guest instructors from the region’s arts and culture community, as well as watch and listen to an array of live cultural performances.

“Fun and interactive events like the Saanich Family Arts Festival are a key part of what makes Saanich such a wonderful place to live,” said Councillor and Arts, Culture & Community Wellbeing Advisory Committee Chair Karen Harper. “Join us on Family Day as we celebrate arts, culture and creativity in our community.”

Participants can try clay hand-building in the ceramics studio, stitching, mask-making, beading, storytelling, playing with robotics and getting creative with a variety of other arts and crafts activities. With so many activity options, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Live music and cultural performances from local groups will take place throughout the day. These kid-friendly shows will feature groups such as the Lekwungen Traditional Dancers, Chinese Dance Victoria and Mr. Mojo. Audience members will learn about the cultural dances and songs, and can even sing and dance along.

Food trucks will be on site throughout the day. Drop by Greek on the Street for authentic Greek food, or get a snack at the Cridge Centre’s Second Chance Café inside the Cedar Hill Recreation and Arts Centre.
