No open burning in Saanich; Halloween fireworks and bonfires could be affected

Saanich, BC – Open burning is currently banned in all areas of Saanich due to severe drought conditions and the extreme fire risk. While open burning usually starts in rural Saanich starting on October 16, bans are currently in place until October 28.

The extreme fire risk could also mean that fireworks and bonfires will not be permitted on October 31. Permissions will be revaluated if the current ban is lifted within the Coastal Fire Centre. We are hopeful that conditions may change as we approach Halloween.

More information will be shared as it becomes available. Please check our website and Twitter account @SaanichFire for updates.
