Take part in Saanich GeoQuest

Saanich, BC – Saanich GeoQuest is a family-friendly outdoor scavenger hunt that launches on Earth Day April 22. Participants will explore Saanich to gather clues and take photos in parks, on trails and at community facilities.

“Our free event offers a creative way for families to get outdoors and be active,” said Councillor and Parks, Trails and Recreation Committee Chair Judy Brownoff. “We encourage families to use active transportation while they participate in the quest and learn about our unique natural and cultural heritage sites. And most importantly, be safe and have fun while exploring our wonderful community.”

Participation instructions

Visit the Saanich Parks, Recreation and Community Services Facebook page starting April 22. Two new locations will be posted each day and you will have 10 days to visit as many locations as you can find. The posts will include a picture and clues about the location.

When you find a location, take a picture of yourself at the location and use the links on the Saanich calendar event page to upload your photos. You can send photo entries to event coordinator Rob Phillips by email if you don’t have a Facebook account.

Each location you visit will earn you an entry into the prize draw. Visit all 20 locations to earn 20 entries.

Saanich is not able to offer the annual Earth Day Festival this year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and provincial restrictions on gatherings. Preliminary planning is underway for the 2022 Earth Day Festival.
