Celebrate light and community at Moon Festival

Saanich, BC – The District ofSaanich’ s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department invites you to the Moon Festival Lantern Celebration, a free outdoor community event September 18 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Lambrick Park and outside Gordon Head Recreation Centre.

“We are so pleased to welcome our diverse community to come together safely and creatively for this treasured outdoor community celebration for all ages,” said Community Events Programmer Rob Phillips, “It’s an opportunity to reconnect and mark the harvest moon and the coming of fall – a practice celebrated by many cultures and appreciated by everyone.”

Enjoy cultural entertainment and beautiful lantern displays and take part in an illuminated twilight community lantern procession, followed by a grand finale performance.

Community members are invited to dress up to light up the night and bring LED lantern creations they have created at home or make one on-site (supplies are limited). The event takes place rain or shine, and visitors are encouraged to decorate and bring an umbrella if it’s raining.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

Limited parking is available on site at both the Feltham entrance to the recreation centre and park and at Lambrick School. The park is also located close to trails and active transportation routes.

Mama Rosie’s Kitchen food truck will be there, as well as another currently unconfirmed truck.
