Saanich, BC – The District of Saanich issued a Request for Information and Expression of Interest as a first step toward a potential agreement to offer new programs and services at its Braefoot Park Centre.

“We want to hear from organizations with programs and services that align with one or more of our Parks, Recreation and Community Services focus areas,” said Recreation Senior Manager Tiana Solares. “Right now, we’re gathering information to gauge interest and determine needs for new opportunities in these areas.”

Key areas of focus for use of the facility include enhancing nature based learning; ensuring services and opportunities for equity-denied groups; and meeting childcare demand. These areas align with the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department’s Natural Intelligence Program; Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work; and the 2020 Child Care Inventory and Action Plan.

Saanich uses Braefoot Park Centre to offer a space rentals, services and programs to equity-denied and diverse populations of Saanich residents. Potential new programs and services will not affect existing park user groups such as amateur sports groups who use the park, fields and facility.

The purpose of this process is to request information and identify parties interested in operating in the Braefoot Park Centre.
