Preparedness 100: Speaker Series discussing large earthquakes and tsunamis

The Saanich Emergency Program hosts Lucinda Leonard, assistant professor in the School of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the University of Victoria to discuss large earthquakes and tsunamis. Lucinda will cover details of past events, how these events have informed future event planning and how we can prepare.

Each session covers a different topic that could include the hazards that surround us, the utilities we use, or a different perspective related to emergencies and events in our community.

Capital Region Tsunami Information Portal

On Tuesday, September 20, the Regional Emergency Management Partnership released the Capital Region’s Tsunami Information Portal publicly.

The Tsunami Information Portal was completed for the region as part of the Capital Region Coastal Flood Inundation Mapping Project with approximately $705,000 in funding support through the National Disaster Mitigation Program.
