Saanich Council finalizes budget deliberations

Saanich, BC – Following two months of deliberations, Saanich Council passed motions at the final budget meeting April 10 to finalize the direction for the 2018 budget and tax rates bylaws. Financial plan and tax rate bylaws will be brought forward for consideration and adoption at the May 7 Council meeting.

Quick facts

  • The municipal property tax increase totals 3.07 per cent or $77 for the average existing homeowner in Saanich.
  • The increase allocates 1.93 per cent to support current levels of municipal and police operations; 0.91 per cent for capital infrastructure replacement; and 0.23 per cent for the Greater Victoria Public Library.
  • Tax notices will be mailed to all property owners on title before the end of May 2018.
  • Payment of taxes and annual homeowner grant applications are due on or before July 3, 2018.
