About the Artists
Barb Springer-Sapergia, AFCA
Barb was born and raised in Manitoba, moving with her husband Ray to Vancouver Island in 1989. She has been
pursuing art since she could hold a crayon. She is a Signature Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and serves on the executive of the local FCA Chapter. After 30 years as a full-time production potter, Barb returned to her love of painting in 2007. She is deeply inspired by her environment, and is particularly drawn to rocks, waves and seascapes, as well as still life subjects with high contrast.
Ray was born and raised on a cattle ranch near Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. He has always been interested in creating unique objects, first with glass, then raku pottery. Always loving the texture and beauty of wood, he made the transition from pottery to wood-turning. Both processes require a calm, centered focus, a natural transition. His pottery and now his woodturning is collected around the world.
