You're invited to a workshop that focusses on parks and community amenities in the Cordova Bay area. Residents can participate by attending the hands-on workshop where they will weigh in on parks, natural areas, beach accesses and culture.
Cordova Bay Local Area Plan Update workshop #2 – Parks and Community Amenities:
- When: Monday, December 3, 2018 from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
- Where: Claremont Secondary School – 4980 Wesley Road
- What to expect: Residents are invited to drop-in for interactive displays and/or to join a scheduled workshop.
- Supervised kids’ activities will be provided, along with pizza.
The Cordova Bay area holds 17 parks. Of those, Fowler and Lochside Parks are two key “community”-classified parks that are slated for improvements. Part of the discussion with residents is to seek input on the future layout and use of these two important parks, including ideas for beach accesses and a renewed vision for the parks. Currently, the community can access the popular beach via six access points in Cordova Bay.
This workshop follows November’s Workshop #1: Transportation. Saanich will be hosting a third workshop in February to discuss housing and land use policies.
The input gathered through these workshops will help us to further refine the policies for the updated Local Area Plan for Cordova Bay. Local area plans are neighbourhood plans that are developed with extensive consultation with community members. The updated Cordova Bay Local Area Plan will guide planning and land use decisions in the community over the next 20 to 30 years.
