If you are planning on installing or construct a chimney, fireplace and/or woodstove in Saanich you need a fireplace permit.
If you are doing a new installation then Saanich can issue you a permit and inspect the installation.
If you require an inspection of an existing chimney or appliance for insurance or other purposes, you will need to hire a W.E.T.T. certified inspector. Fireplace retail outlets should be able to provide this service for a nominal fee. Make sure the inspector includes his W.E.T.T. certificate number on his inspection report.
The links below are designed to assist you with your permit application.
