Saanich Recreation seeks an individual who will develop, plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate the Recreation Volunteer Program. The Volunteer Coordinator ensures successful program delivery and community engagement by providing leadership, mentoring and support to more than 150 volunteers across the division.
The successful candidate will recruit and orient new volunteers for participation in Recreation programs and events; provide ongoing volunteer support, coordination, mentoring, evaluation, motivation, recognition and retention; facilitate divisional planning for volunteerism and provide recommendations to management; promote community development through liaison with community agencies and community groups and oversee the marketing and promotion of this program.
Requirements include two years post-secondary education in recreation, leisure studies or related field; two years of experience in volunteer management in a parks and recreation setting and one year of recreation programming experience; satisfactory police information check and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence with a personal vehicle for work related use. Volunteer Management Certificate and experience with volunteer management software are assets. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will be required to work varying shifts including evenings and weekends, 21 hours per week (hours/shifts are subject to change).
