Description:

The Parks Division is seeking an experienced Senior Arboriculture Inspector who will support senior staff in providing data and recommendations to improve efficiencies, modernize and digitize processes, and support policy development to further the goals of the Urban Forest Strategy and objectives. The successful candidate will conduct and support interdepartmental development reviews and coordinate development-related permit reviews. The ideal candidate will have detailed knowledge of the Tree Protection Bylaw, ways to mitigate tree impacts during development, and a demonstrated ability to research information and communicate effectively.

Requirements include possession of a two year diploma in arboriculture or horticulture from a recognized college or university and four years of progressive experience in Urban Forestry and/or administrating a Tree Bylaw including one (1) year experience managing projects, supervising staff or contractors related to urban forestry and one (1) year experience reading and interpreting development proposals as they relate to trees; Certificate from the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) as a Certified Arborist; ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ); Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement & Investigative Skills -Level 1; and possession of a valid B.C. Class 5 Driver’s Licence. The successful candidate will have strong computer skills and excellent written and oral communication skills. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
