Description:

The Gordon Head Recreation Centre is seeking an Aquatic Programmer who is passionate about Aquatics to oversee swim lessons, advanced aquatic programs relating to swim lesson instruction, and a dynamic aquatics team! The successful individual will be responsible for following expectations and guidelines set out by Canadian Red Cross, The Lifesaving Society, Local, Regional, and National Health Authorities and the District of Saanich.

This individual is expected to have strong leadership skills to support and mentor a team of Aquatic Instructors, Lifeguards, Team Leaders, and Aquatic Technicians. Key skills include: organizational abilities, timeliness, strong customer service and problem solving skills, adaptability, effective communication, and leadership.

Requirements include a two-year post-secondary diploma in recreation, leisure studies or a related field; two years of experience in program planning and staff supervision; and a satisfactory Police Information Check with vulnerable sector.

The following certifications are required and must be current.

  • Canadian Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer
  • National Lifeguard Certification - Pool Option
  • Standard First Aid
  • CPR Level C
  • OFA Level 1 as required

 

The following certifications are considered an asset:

  • Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Instructor Trainer and Examiner
  • Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor (LSI)
  • Lifesaving Society Instructor Trainer
  • First Aid Instructor

 

The successful candidate will be required to work varying shifts based on program needs including evenings and weekends during times when lesson programs are running (hours/shifts are subject to change).

*In addition to the interview process, testing will be conducted.*
