The Transportation and Development Services Division oversees the design and installation of municipal-owned and 3rd party infrastructure within municipal rights-of-way. Working under the direction of a senior technician or manager, the Engineering Technician II performs technical work related to municipal engineering. Duties include reviewing and responding to inquiries received from the public, preparing design drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D, reviewing design drawings and constructed works, project managing smaller municipal infrastructure projects, and providing technical support to senior staff. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate a strong knowledge of road and active transportation design guidelines and principles as well as experience in transportation design modelling using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
Requirements include a two-year Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution; three months of related experience; eligible for registration with the Applied Science Technologies and Technicians of BC; conversant with computer-based engineering applications including AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam Revu; and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (35 hours per week), with some variation of work hours and flex days available. Occasional work from home may be available depending on work assignments.
