The Inspection Services Division is seeking experienced Building/Plumbing Officials to perform skilled office and field inspection work reviewing all types of buildings; administering the BC Building Code and enforcing municipal bylaws. The Building / Plumbing Official is responsible for plan and document examination and Building Permit processing for the construction, alteration and repair of buildings. The successful candidates will have demonstrated knowledge of the B.C. Building Code, B.C. Plumbing Code, and municipal inspection and permitting processes.
Requirements include: BOABC Level II qualification and POABC Level I qualification are mandatory; two year diploma from a technical college or university in engineering or architecture; three years of directly related experience with codes and standards in building design, preparation of construction documents and construction inspections, including plumbing systems and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidates will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
