The Urban Forestry section of our Parks Division is currently seeking a temporary full time Arborist for up to 1 year.
The work of the Arborist requires skill and ability at the technical level in the urban forestry and arboriculture field with emphasis on teamwork, providing work direction to other staff, operating an aerial lift truck, climbing and pruning, removing, rigging, and assessing trees. This includes general plant health care and integrated pest management for a wide variety of native and non-native tree species.
Requirements include Grade 12 or equivalent; two year post-secondary diploma in arboriculture or horticulture; two years progressive experience in the field of urban forestry including technical climbing, rigging, removals, and assessing; ISA Certificate; ISA Tree Risk Assessor Qualification and a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence with air endorsement. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
