Cedar Hill Cross Road corridor is a 3 km segment of road that provides an east-west connection from McKenzie Avenue to the businesses at Shelbourne Street and onwards to the University of Victoria and the District of Oak Bay. There are hundreds of local properties along the corridor and it regularly experiences congestion at peak times.

The District of Saanich is undertaking a traffic study for 2.1 km of the Cedar Hill Cross Road corridor, from McKenzie Avenue to Ophir Street. By identifying cost-effective mitigation measures, the study is meant to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists. 

What's Happening Now

The Let's Talk About Cedar Hill Cross Road Survey was open from March 24th to April 14th and we received 841 responses! These responses were sent to the consultant for review and a summary will be available soon.  

Why are we doing this?

The Cedar Hill Cross Road corridor carries approx. 19,000 vehicles per day and is one of three primary routes to the University of Victoria. The current speed limit is 50 km/h but will be reduced to 40 km/h later this spring. Saanich is interested in recommendations to improve safety for vulnerable users to inform short-term and long-term infrastructure improvements.
