Kinesiology/Exercise Rehabilitation

Everfitt Movement will guide clients toward a healthier, more functional lifestyle, focusing on self-improvement and emphasizing the mind/body connection. Using a sound base of assessment tools and exercise prescription, practicing Kinesiologists and qualified instructors work towards achieving the client’s personal goals and developing their confidence through fun and motivating sessions.

Everfitt provides rehabilitation services for many conditions including back and joint pain, chronic illnesses, recovery from motor vehicle accident and work related injuries. Managment of pre- and post-surgery health, balance and mobility training are also available.

An initial consultation with a practicing Kinesiologist determines the services that will best meet the client’s needs. The consultation includes a review of clients medical history to assist in evaluating current physical condition. This will provide the basis for establishing goals and formulating an exercise program specially tailored to the individual.

Everfitt maintains a private office at Cedar Hill Recreation centre where assessments and counseling are undertaken. The exercise sessions take place in the fitness room at the Recreation Centre. Home Visits are also available.

Chris Lamb

Chris has been a registered physiotherapist since 2006; he holds an undergraduate degree in kinesiology and a masters degree in physiotherapy. Chris has experience working with a broad range of conditions – but is most passionate about rehabilitation, injury prevention, and empowering individuals to take an active role in their recovery. Primary focus of treatment includes designing and implementing gym or home-based exercise programs, education and taping. Ideal for individals wanting to reach their health/fitness goals in a safe and effective manner.

Kinesiology/Exercise Rehabilitation:

Are you facing a physical challenge, recovering from an injury, period of inactivity, or dealing with a chronic condition?

Exercise Rehabilitation programs are offered at Gordon Head Rec Centre with our very qualified and experienced Kinesiology Team. You will be provided with a functional assessment and customized exercise program to meet your individual goals and needs. Your therapist will evaluate and modify your program as you progress towards your goals. Kinesiology Rehab sessions are offered on dry land, gym setting or pool/Aquatherapy.

Aquatic Exercise Therapy

Exercise therapy in the Pool setting can be extremely beneficial for those recovering from injury or dealing with chronic conditions.  The natural buoyancy of the water takes compression off your joints and adds a natural resistance supporting your body while strengthening - an excellent choice for those with arthritis, low back pain, hip and knee injuries, and post-surgical recovery.

These group-led classes require an initial assessment and introduction to pool exercises to ensure each participant's needs and limitations are addressed during the class.

Shallow Water Aquatherapy

  • Gentle strength and mobility exercises in the shallow water for individuals with stable medical conditions and those recovering from injuries or illnesses
  • Focus on posture, balance and core stability while working both the upper and lower body against the gentle resistance of the water
  • Great for anyone who needs to improve their balance and overall conditioning in a semi-buoyant environment

Deep Water Aquatherapy

  • Focuses on cardiovascular conditioning, strength, mobility, posture and core stability exercises in the deep water using flotation devices
  • A portion of the class is also spent in the shallow water working on gait, balance and posture
  • Ideal for individuals who are very comfortable in the water and who are looking for a slightly higher intensity of workout while focusing on core strength and stability and performing safe, specific and effective strength and mobility exercises for the upper and lower body

Seniors Exercise Therapy - Group Gym Program

These group-led classes require an initial assessment and introduction to exercised to ensure each participant's needs and limitations are addressed during the class.

  • Comprised of 3 to 6 people - targeted toward, but not limited to, a senior population
  • Focus is on improving strength, balance, mobility, core stability and conditioning in a fitness centre setting
  • Individualized exercise programs are created to target client needs and goals to help maintain and/or improve function, strength and ability to perform daily tasks in a safe, controlled manner
  • Appropriate for individuals who either would like some direction and guidance in a gym setting with the intention of becoming independent or for those individuals who need some supervision with their exercise program
  • Regardless of the level of ability and mobility, each client must be semi-independent with moving around the gym and completing their exercise program or must attend with a volunteer assistant in order to ensure their safety in the group setting

These group-led classes require an initial assessment and introduction to exercises to ensure each participant's needs and limitations are addressed during the classes.

  • Focus is on maintaining core stability while performing functional movement patterns
  • Ideal for those looking for rehabilitation exercise, injury prevention strategies, as well as core stability and strength
  • A specifically-tailored exercise program is created for each client, based on their specific needs and health goals, which is progressed throughout the class session


Physiotherapy is a branch of rehabilitation medicine that focuses on physical rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries. These include injuries to joints, bones, muscles, ligaments, and the systems required for healing and normal function.

WSBC Patients are automatically approved for Hydrotherapy visits with an approved physiotherapy claim.  WSBC is billed directly for this service, at no cost to the patient.  Please talk to your physiotherapist about Hydrotherapy if you think you may be eligible for this service under your benefits.

Massage Therapy

Registered Massage therapists (RMT's) are health care professionals trained in the assessment and diagnosis of the soft-tissues and joints of the body. Massage therapy is an effective tool for injury management and rehabilitation, as well as a part of a preventative care program.

Saanich Commonwealth Place

Exercise Rehabilitation/Aquatic Therapy Program offered by 'Promotion Rehabilitation'

Customized program for at home or in our facility after an illness, injury or period of inactivity. Ideal for: chronic illnesses, post surgical rehabilitation, physical challenges, motor vehicle or work related injuries. Exercise may be done in the pool or in our Fitness Centre. Take Heart

In partnership with the Vancouver Island Health Authority. A safe, medically guided exercise program for men and women of all ages who have experienced a heart attack, heart surgery, angina or other cardiac event. Our program emphasizes return to regular activities and includes links to a registered dietician, stress management and smoking cessation. Doctor's approval is necessary. Nutritional Consulting

General Nutrition Session
This session is for people who may be trying to gain or lose weight; struggling with low energy levels; craving sugar; experiencing mood swings; need help following a special diet or just want to make sure you’re on the right track. The session involves an assessment of your current intake from your food record. Carol does not give out diets but rather starts from where you are looking for the trouble spots and helping to find workable solutions. Nutritional advice is provided in the form of small doable steps that are designed to help you make changes that you can live with forever thereby achieving lasting results.

Sports Nutrition Session
Looking to ramp up your diet so the physical effort you are putting in turns into results. A good diet is an essential part to any training regime. Carol will assess your diet for adequacy specific to your sport using your food record and a computer analysis. She will provide solutions to overcoming the challenges in getting all that you need to help you reach your full potential and a meal plan to assist you in doing just that.

Massage Therapy

Registered Massage Therapists (RMTs) in B.C. are health care professionals trained in the assessment and diagnosis of the soft tissues and joints of the body. Research supports the use of massage therapy as an effective approach in injury management and rehabilitation, as well as part of a preventive care program.

British Columbians can be sure that they are receiving the highest quality of care available because RMTs in BC are governed by the College of Massage Therapists of British Columbia (CMTBC), the profession's equivalent to medicine's College of Physicians and Surgeons. Effective for migraine headaches, tendonitis, arthritis, sports injuries and many other conditions/injuries as well as for general relaxation.

Physiotherapy Services

Registered physiotherapists are University trained professionals with expertise in movement, mobility, and body mechanics. They will assess injuries and movement dysfunction and develop specific treatment plans to restore optimum health and function.  Treatment types include education, manual therapy, joint manipulations, acupuncture, IMS, and exercise prescription.  Physiotherapy is covered by most extended health plans.
Some of the conditions treated by physiotherapy include:

Marcia Kirby has been a registered Physiotherapist since 2001.  She is certified in Spinal Manipulations, IMS, and Acupuncture.  She is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.  Marcia has experience treating patients of all ages with varying orthopaedic injuries.  Treatments can include manual/manipulative therapy, exercise prescription, acupuncture and IMS to help patients restore optimum health and function.
