Moon Festival Lantern Celebration
Saturday September 26, 2015, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Gordon Head Recreation Centre and Lambrick Park
4100 Lambrick Park Way, Victoria BC
Moon Festival Lantern Celebration provides an opportunity for people of all ages and cultures to share in an inviting and magical community experience.
The evening features live traditional Asian dance and musical performances by a range of community groups; lantern making for children and a sampling of mooncakes and traditional green teas. The event culminates with outdoor large-scale lantern installations and an illuminated lantern procession through the park.
Marking the “Harvest Moon” is a cultural practice celebrated by many Asian cultures around the world. Moon Festival fosters understanding and appreciation for cultural diversity by sharing Asian cultural traditions in music, arts, dance and performance, as well as offering hands on, accessible opportunities for the public to participate.
This free event is family-friendly, welcomes people of all ages and cultures and many elements are wheelchair accessible. Dress up, bring your own battery-powered lantern, or make one in our lantern making station. Food trucks will be on site.
