What has the LIFE Program meant to me?

The LIFE program has meant a LIFELINE for me and my son!

I had been a regular patron of Commonwealth Place for many activities ranging from the fantastic gym to all the great programs for toddlers and young children. After I became a single parent I was not in a position to continue to enjoy these facilities and programs as part of my active lifestyle until one of the fitness coordinators told me about the LIFE program. Still being able to continue to go to the gym while looking for a job was a LIFESAVER for me! After taking my son to school I would head to the gym for an inspirational workout before starting the daily grind of looking for a job. This enabled me to stay positive, active, healthy and motivated.

Also, this program enabled my son to continue in his swimming lessons, skating and various programs to keep him an active, happy child. The assistance in summer neighbourhood camps was also extremely helpful after I started working to ease the summer expenditures of childcare.

I think this program has huge benefits for the community as a whole and demonstrates a caring and progressive attitude that promotes active living and keeps people engaged in their community. I am very grateful for this program and will always be a huge supporter of the great facilities and programs that are available in the District of Saanich.

Honoured LIFE member
