In June of 2016, the District of Saanich applied for a Canada 150 Infrastructure Program grant for this community project. In October we received word that our application was unsuccessful in obtaining the requested funds.
In order to meet the community desire for these new park amenities, staff are currently exploring alternate strategies to fund both the washroom building and a splash pad for Rutledge Park.
Public Engagement Events Held
On May 25, 2016, Parks hosted an open house at Rutledge Park to continue the conversation about the proposed water play feature and washroom building.

Our past community engagement activities for this project...
We asked to hear from you using a short online survey.
From June 2015 through to May 2016, our survey asked for feedback about a potential water play feature and washroom building for Rutledge Park. We collected valuable information from our community. This survey is now complete and listed below are some key highlights:
- Nearly 300 respondents took the survey
- 75% of the respondents live within a 15 minute walk of the park
- 48% of park visitors come for the playground
- 85% of survey respondents support a water play feature at the park
- 89% of survey respondents support a small washroom building at the park
Your thoughtful input assisted us to understand the needs of Rutledge Park users.
Information Night – June 4, 2015
