Saanich, BC – The District of Saanich Council has launched an initiative to find out how the public would like to be involved in its strategic and financial planning processes. Over the next five weeks, Saanich residents and other stakeholders will have a variety of opportunities to provide input.

"We are moving forward on two recommendations from our Governance Review Citizen’s Advisory Committee to improve our strategic planning and budget development," said Mayor Richard Atwell. "The result of this initiative will lead to a more inclusive process."

The outcome of this project will help guide how Saanich involves the community in a way that meets their needs while providing Council with useful information for planning and decision-making.

Opportunities for residents to have their say include:

  • Pop-ups at community events to find out more about the current process and discuss options for involvement.
  • One-on-one meetings with community groups representing a variety of stakeholders.
  • An online survey and weekly polls to capture feedback on specific questions about ways to engage.

Summer is a busy time of year for everyone, so Saanich has designed a variety of ways for the public to offer feedback. Citizens don't need to take much time to participate and they can find the way that is easiest for them. Every type of input will be helpful.
