August brings the opportunity to work in Swan Creek to improve the salmon habitat. This is our biggest activity of the year! Peninsula Streams Society has obtained the required permits, has obtained funding for the materials, and will direct our effort to continue improving salmon habitat in Swan Creek!

- Two rock riffles will be added in the creek, along with spawning gravel.
- Note: the work party originally scheduled in Swan Creek Forest for August 13th is canceled.
Work Party 2:
When: Saturday / Sunday, August 26/27 from 10am - 3pm.
Where: Swan Creek, at the bridge behind the CRD pump station (across from Hyacinth Park).
- Two rock riffles will be repaired and enhanced just downstream of the bridge.
For insurance purposes, volunteers need to be members of Peninsula Streams Society. If you are not already a member, Friends of Swan Creek Watershed will pay for your membership. If you want to purchase a membership, here is the link: http://peninsulastreams.ca/purchase-a-membership
This is an exciting time of year, because a few weeks after this work is completed, we hope to see Coho salmon spawning around these sites!
