Montague Park Tree Appreciation Day

Join Us! November 5, 2016 – 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Saanich staff will be participating in the event to help coordinate tree placement and installation, provide advice on planting and help contribute to the enhancement of the park.

Tree Planting

The planting plan [PDF - 1.2 MB] consists of 46 trees with a mixture of conifer and deciduous species. The trees will be planted in locations to blend in with the existing canopy and revitalize the park landscape. The project will help give an enhanced natural feel to the park and improve Saanich’s urban forest. Please find attached the Montague Park Planting Plan with tree species and planting locations.

A new drip irrigation system will also be installed to provide water for the establishment of the trees in an efficient and sustainable method.

Site Preparation

In preparation for the Tree Appreciation Day event, 15 small dead/dying park trees will be removed and irrigation and tree pits will be prepared to facilitate installation of the new trees.
