Plumbing Permits

If you are planning on installing or modification of any plumbing system, a plumbing permit is required.

If you are a home owner wanting to do your own plumbing work, you will be asked to provide a schematic drawing of your proposed project in order to prove competency.

Requirements:

  1. Completed application form.

Who can do plumbing work?

  1. A certified plumber (Trades qualification number is required)
  2. Indentured apprentice supervised by a journeyman certified plumber
  3. The registered owner and occupant or intended occupant of the building where the plumbing work will happen.  (Isometric drawings along with Saanich Plumbing Official approval required)

Anyone can install perimeter drainage but for storm laterals, sanitary sewer lines, rain water leader systems or waterlines, only one of the following people can do the work:

  1. A certified plumber (Trades qualification number is required)
  2. Indentured apprentice supervised by a journeyman certified plumber.
  3. The registered owner and occupant or intended occupant of the single family dwelling where the plumbing work will happen.
