Description:

The District of Saanich is seeking an experienced senior-level engineering technologist to join our Engineering Department.  The Transportation and Development Services Division oversees the planning, management and operation of a multi-modal transportation system. The successful candidate will perform transportation planning and engineering work as well as administration and supervisory duties in the Transportation Engineering Section.  Will provide in-house technical expertise at a semi-professional level related to municipal transportation infrastructure in accordance with District plans and objectives. Coordinates and directs section staff in all aspects related to their daily work and operations. Duties include: supervision, technical oversight, transportation related research, data collection, policy development, transportation calls for service and safety analyses. Oversees traffic signal system requirements including traffic controller timings, as well as traffic controls for pedestrians and cyclists. Undertakes long term planning of municipal transportation related infrastructure, including necessary consultant studies, and conducts public/stakeholder consultations. Familiarity with active transportation, urban street design, municipal processes and standards, project management and procedures is desired.

Requirements for this position include a Diploma in Civil Engineering; a minimum of 8 years progressive related engineering experience as well as one year of supervisory experience; registered as an engineering technologist with ASTT of BC. An equivalent level of education and experience will be considered.

The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
