The District of Saanich has joined the growing trend for Canadian municipalities to raise awareness about the potential negative impacts of pesticide use in our communities.
The Pesticide Bylaw was adopted by Saanich Council in 2010 to reduce the residential use of pesticides in the District of Saanich. This means that residential pesticide use is generally no longer permitted on lawns and gardens. Council also endorsed an education strategy to help residents understand the new bylaw, and provide information on alternatives to pesticide use.
