Are you interested in keeping miniature goats on your single family residential lot?
On April 18, 2016 Council approved a Pilot Study for a minimum of 18 months allowing miniature goats to be kept on up to ten (10) single family zoned residential lots. The intention of the Pilot Study is to explore opportunities for urban agriculture in residential settings.

How to Participate:
- Review and sign the Terms and Conditions [PDF - 117 KB] document;
- Complete an Application form [PDF - 116 KB];
- Obtain written approval of all neighbours within 50 m radius. See drawing example [PDF - 3.1 MB] and use Neighbour Consent form [PDF - 23 KB] for neighbours to sign;
- Prepare a site plan showing where on your property you plan to locate the goat shelter and enclosure (see attached example [PDF - 914 KB]); and
After the Pilot Study is complete, a summary report outlining findings will be presented to Council. Following the Pilot Study, a broader public engagement process will be undertaken with residents of Saanich to explore the potential legalization of miniature goats on urban residential zoned properties.
